The Historic Appalachian National Scenic Trail meanders north/south for approximately 2160 miles following the ancient Appalachian Mountain chain through fourteen states in the Eastern United States. The southern terminus is atop Springer Mountain in Northern Georgia. The northern terminus is atop Baxter Peak on Mount Katahdin in Central Maine. The trail was conceived in the early 1900's, and was completed in the 1930's.
